At his Sept. 9, 2014 lecture at Barnes & Noble, Dr. Roger De Sesa emphatically declared, “Kids should NEVER have trans fat.” No one should actually. Trans fat increases one’s risk of heart disease and stroke. Don’t be fooled by a label that says 0 trans fat. If there is 0.5 grams/serving or less, companies can put 0.  Check the ingredients for partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. If it’s in the product,  don’t buy it. There is no known health benefit to it and plenty of risk! Related, Dr. De Sesa also shared his top foods to avoid:

1 Doughnuts

2 Soda

3 French fries

4 Chips

5  Fried non-fish seafood (e.g., calamari and shrimp).
